SANTA IS HERE!

I looked up, I looked down.
I looked at the door and then frowned.
I asked my mom ‘Where is he?’
‘Close your eyes and let me sleep.’

I looked at the chimney, at the door, at the wall.
But my eyes could see none of the doll.
‘Where am I supposed to get it mom?’
But I could hear no response.

Maybe she was asleep? Maybe she was thinking?
Or maybe under the cover, she might be smiling.
But no, she wasn’t smiling. Nor was she there
She had gone to the other room, not even here.

I turned, and tossed, and jerked all fear,
After all, dear Santa is here!
‘Where is the doll? Where is the teddy?’
And I soon realized that all was ready.

He said, ‘Ho ho ho!’
Dear little boy, now let me go.
‘OK’ I said, with a little sad smile,
Because he has to travel a hundred mile.

He left and then I heard a soft knock
‘Was Santa here, it’s twelve in the clock.
Of course he was here! He left right now.
And he gave me the doll, but tell me how,
He knew that a teddy would give me a wow?

‘Maybe,’ she smiled
'He could’ve overheard us now.'
